John Heard on EDUCATION

During his service in the House of Representatives we’ve established the Georgia Gwinnett College, opened the Philadelphia School of Medicine, and expanded Gwinnett Technical College. These schools, when up to capacity, will have 15,000+ students. Combined with the Hope Scholarship, this guarantees almost all high school graduates in the Lawrenceville community will have access to a college or technical school education at minimal or no cost.

Representative Heard will continue supporting fully-funded Charter Schools. He believes parents are the best judge of their children’s educational needs. While Gwinnett County has done an excellent job of addressing low test scores, if a school should fail, he favors vouchers to allow parents to escape failing schools.

He will use his position on the powerful House Appropriations Committee to make sure the Lawrenceville Community and our schools won’t be short changed. He wants to see that every Gwinnett high school graduate is guaranteed admission to either Gwinnett Technical College or Georgia Gwinnett University.
